Melpi is one of the most prestigious and respected entities in the equine sector. The company develops software for the improvement of breeds of horses and bulls, including genetic studies and management of the official records of bulls in Spain. Also, the computer management of equestrian events such as dressage, jumping and Purebred Spanish Horses competitions.

I develop with Visual Studio .Net, including the 2010 version, always with SVN so as to be able to share projects with other developers. I use SQL Server Management Studio to program in T-SQL.

Some Web Projects:

www.gescabonline.com: This is the biggest database of Purebred Spanish Horses. The potential for data processing is almost unlimited, infinite being able to make filters. Into the memory is loaded a variable with hundreds of thousands of records, but it is common to all connected clients and the application is extremely fast. This project is developed in .Net with Developer Express and SQL Server. All transactions within the database are done with stored procedures to increase security and application performance. Some of these are very complex, generating such pedigrees

www.sevillaecuestre.com: The back-end of this website is very complex because all the horses’ results appear online at the same time as that the (dressage) judges qualify a horse. For this reason, the desktop application is connected via web services with back-end web site.

I used to travel in Spain, USA and Europe to manage various events related to the horses about 10 times a year. I used software created by myself for the performance management of these events. This software allows the publishing of the results on the Internet in real time.

I have designed and built the following websites based on Crawlers:
The websites are very similar; I used the same technology to develop both of them.

1. Multi threads Crawler developed in .Net
   • The Stored Procedures and Triggers in T-SQL decide which pages to be indexed. (stack priority)
   • The .Net program, transforms the HTML data for an XML structure.
   • Another Stored Procedure saves the information. It receives a unique XML parameter and saves this information in the database. In only one call it is possible to save tens of thousands of registers.
2. Sitemaps
   • From the records in the database, another stored procedure returns the Sitemaps and the Sitemap Index.
   • Using Google Webmaster Tools API, the web application sends the Sitemaps to Google.
3. Website
   • The website is development in ASP.Net + IIS 7.
   • I used URL Rewrite to Friendly URLs.
   • The information is updated in real time.
   • ASP.Net + jQuery (AJAX)
4. Server
   • I have a server in France with Windows Server 2008 + IIS 7. I administrate all the parameters of the server. The HD performance is very important. I have 4 disks, two SSD high performance and two another SATA2 disks.
5. Statistics
   • facewho.net - The last week had 256.182 visits (36.597 avg diary). 189.132 unique visitors. – Record nº of visits: 20/09/2011 - 40.951 visits. Google crawls about 600.000 pages every day.
   • fotowho.net - The last week had 156.191 visits (22.313 avg diary). 148.616 unique visitors. – Record nº of visits: 04/09/2008 - 28.454 visits. Google crawls about 200.000 pages every day.
